Uh uh

Had a bit of a half hearted atempt at writing today. No idea why it's not happening lately, the story I want to work on still seems worthwhile to me but everytime I sit down to work on it I freeze. What I've done (apart from the first chapter, it's basically sound) just doesn't inspire me at all and I just don't know what to write next. Words just seem dead on the page. Very curious.

Ditto.

I'm keep going back to research. I'm thinking of writing some short stories (which I hate doing) so I can play with some different themes and hopefully find my pace on the main stuff again. Still not going to show it to anyone yet. Not even sure if my publisher will be interested... Meh...

Oh yes... That sucks, it really does. I know Philip Pullman claims there's no such thing as writers block, but some days it just clots in you and will not come out...

My problem is this project is bigger then anything I've done before (although it's been Work In Progress for 10 years!).

Plus I'm still on a downer since losing my old work so it's kind of like any work I do now is a catch up on what I've lost...

Sympathy with you... at least I don't have writers block!

I'm not even sure it's writer's block, more like not good enough yet block - that's the thing that bugs me about Pullman, it's a hell of a lot easier to say that when you've got that kind of skill/talent/ability. I think my characters are just a bit weak and I'm not sure what I want to happen, figuring out how I want to say what I want to say will help a hell of a lot, it is a pretty major aspect of writing after all.

I hear heroin is good for inspiration (yet bad for marriages)

Just a suggestion...

Heroin huh? Seems a bit extreme. Not sure about this rag rolling thing either.

Depression works for me. Unfortunately I keep getting too cheerful... still, depressed enough to begin catching up fast on my lost work.

Start researching for my stories next week as well! Very excited.
