This is probably way to rough to post as it's nothing more than a quick doodle, but what the hell, might as well shown some drawings. Despite it's dodginess, this Dredd pic makes me wonder if I should do a sample. My only contact with Tharg made me suspect that I'm not right for (his) 2000ad and probably never will be. But, I have that nagging feeling a lot of readers my age probably have of wanting to have had a proper go at being in 2000ad. I've never drawn the Dredd I see in my head, but this is getting closer.

Now that's a proper Dredd chin.
Wow. I know what you mean about being right for 2000ad and it seems to me it depends on your timing more than anything. It does go through these phases where certain art styles predominate. At the moment with D'Israeli and Boo Cook and the like I'd say you have a chance. Very nice Dredd though, made me think of Clint Eastwood. Got to stop now Harry's trying to help me type...
Can't hurt to give it a bash, worst case scenario is the Mighty One does not like it but you'll probably learn something from doing it.
I love it, it's like Gendy Whassisface taking a pop at Dredd.
And, as the internet's leading campaigner to become the next Tharg, I'd throw yer a Dredd!
Gary - Think it started out even bigger.
Peter - Thought your typing was better!
James - Tharg wasn't impressed with my style when I showed him my Huzzah strips and a short I did for Boom. Tried to get some pointers, but no joy. That's why I'm a bit unsure - although I do hope that doing an actual Dredd sample would help.
Mark - I'll take that! Samurai Jack was brilliant! Finger's x-ed for your takeover bid:)
I like that Dredd a lot. I reckon you should go for it!
Just been looking at your noir stuff. All very good. Have you thought about doing some horror-themed pitches for the Mighty One?
Cheers Matt, think I'm going to give the Dredd samples a go, just need to finish up a pitch I'm working on with Jason Cobley.
I'd love to do a horror strip, not got anything lined up pitch-wise though.
I like it too - it's kind of odd and lots of fun.
Not sure how much Tharg wants "fun" these days, though.
That's what I'm worried about, Dan. Showed him some stuff last year same time as Rob, and it wasn't a helpful experience.
Dunno, I am in two minds, but I just fancy scratching the itch of doing a proper 2000ad sample.
